We took our folding bikes on the bus from Hilo to Volcanoes National Park! It was a stunning day cycling and hiking around this must see sight.

Our first day in Hawaii was a crash course in taking the Hele-On Bus! We also saw our first black-and-white sand beach, found some petroglyphs, and discovered how unrelentingly steep Hilo’s streets are en route to our AirBnB.

Everyone says you need to rent a car to tour Hawaii, but not us! Despite The Big Island’s extremely limited transit system, we’re going to do a combination of cycling and taking the bus.
