The day after Tour La Nuit, we met up with our Brompton friends to bike two places Pier and I had not yet been in Montreal: Île-des-Soeurs (Nuns’ Island) and Pont-Champlain (the NEW Champlain bridge).

I would love to know where I can meet others communities who bike using Brompton in Montreal. Do you recommend one? Also, is there any used Brompton bikes I can buy and is it worth it if used?
Bromptons are durable bikes and hold their value well, so a used Brompton is generally worth it. However, since Bromptons hold their value so well, don’t expect a big discount on a used one! There is a Brompton group on Facebook that’s really active in Montreal – meeting up for social rides, etc. You could search “Brompton Montreal” on that platform to find them.
I’m looking into getting a Brompton.
1- where in Montreal can I get one?
2- I will mostly use it to get to work and groceries, so what are the different bags I see you guys have? Any good ones for holding 2 laptops 15inches for work?
3- Did you ever thought about getting the electric brompton?
4- What are the must get accessories for the bike?
1 – In Montreal, you can buy Bromptons at Dumoulin Bicyclettes. https://www.dumoulinbicyclettes.com/
2 – Most of the Brompton bags that have a laptop sleeve with fit a 15 inch laptop.
3 – We aren’t looking for electric bikes just yet, but we have a couple friends who have the electric Brompton and love it!
4 – Definitely a couple front bags. We have little bags, big bags, waterproof bags – something for every kind of trip and load!
We took VIA Rail to Montreal because it is so much easier to just roll onto the train with the Bromptons than pack them up for a flight. We always check the bikes when flying; they’re just slightly too big for carry on. However, we did fly back from Quebec City (it’s a bit far from Toronto to take the train), and we only put the Bromptons in cheap Ikea DIMPA bags, and they were miraculously fine! I even watched my poor bike be THROWN onto the luggage belt! And it was still okay.
